Passing Afternoon

from Iron & Wine by Loren Radis

/

about

“There are times that walk from you – like some passing afternoon…” Time marches on, the only inevitability in life. Some things that have been done can’t be undone, and some things we refuse to undo. This is like a lot of Sam’s songs in that there’s no real verse/chorus/bridge progression. Instead, we have just this one exquisitely crafted repeating melody line over a simple yet unusual chord progression that lets the lyrics take center stage as the tune becomes more and more familiar with each repetition.
